Stivz: The Duck with the Silver Mask
Part 1 of 4
As the buzzers sounded, the sound of electronics and engineering hummed as the AeroWing was being raised into position. The ducks were on their way to another mission to stop Dragonous.
As the Pond's roof began to open up, the engines roared to life and the thrusters were fired. As soon as the AeroWing was clear of the Pond, the Migrator and it's track was to the level of the ice.
"Let's do it!" Wildwing cried.
With that, the Migrator peeled out into the speed tunnel and out toward the city of Anaheim.
"This time, Dragonous is definately going down!" Nosedive said into the AeroWing's radio.
"That's right!" said Mallory. "We're pulling out all the stops on this attack run."
Wildwing spoke into his Com. "What's the story so far, Tanya?"
"Dragonous is located with the Raptor at the foothills." Tanya answered. "It looks like he's about to open up another Dimensional Gateway to Dimesional Limbo!"
Duke looked over at Wildwing. "He's probably plannin' on realeasing his fellow Saurian compadres."
"Stay on your toes, everyone." Wildwing said over the radio.
As soon as the Ducks arrived at the foot of the mountains, they met balster fire from Siege and the Chameleon.
"You stinkin' Ducks are in for it now!" gloated Siege. He suddenly turned his fire onto the AeroWing, circling overhead.
"Oh, crap!" yealled Dive. "I didn't expect this!"
He quickly and carefully landed the AeroWing behind a building away from the fighting. Tanya was with him.
"What now, Nosedive?" Tanya asked. Nosedive looked out through the windshield and saw Wraith teleporting behind the rest of Ducks.
"We stop him from putting the jump on our buds!"
Tanya and Dive got out of the AeroWing and made a run for Wraith.
"I don't like this." said Dive. "He's right there clear for a shot, and he's not makin' a move."
Just then, dozens of Dragonous's drones appeared out of thin air. They teleported from everywhere. Dive and Tanya were trapped. four drones grabbed the two Ducks.
"Take these two back to the Raptor," Wraith boomed. "The rest of you, come with me."
Wraith led the drones out from behind the building and out into the battle. Wildwing repelled fire from Siege with his ice shield, while Duke swatted heat beams away with his DuckSabre.
Mallory and Grin were firing their puck blasters at the lizards, keeping them at bay. Suddenly, they heard the clicks of drones arming their cannons and taking aim at the Ducks. Wildwing spun around and saw the new situation. He could only sat one thing.
"Damn."
The drones closed in on the Ducks and took hold of them. They all were then teleported to the Raptor.
"I hope Dive and Tanya are still out there, they're our only hope now." He was then answered when he saw them barred to the wall. The Ducks had been taken to the Raptor's holding chamber. Wildwing now feared the worst. They were defeated. They were finished. No one knew or had any clue of where they were, and who would even try to find them?
Dragonous finally entered the holding chamber when the Ducks were all bonded and chained to the wall.
"Well, well, well." Dragonous grinned. "What do we have here." He walked along the line of six Ducks. Each one of them glared right back at him with furious eyes. Dragonous continued. "It looks like we have a bunch of poor, defeated, beaten, useless, defenseless Ducks. Wouldn't you say Siege."
Siege chuckled in the corner. "Yeah."
"Why don't you stop rubbing it in our faces," yelled Nosedive. "And just kill us and get it over with?!"
Dragonous gave out a devilish cackle. "Because, you little brat, I want to show you something even worse than death." Dragonous turned to Wildwing.
"Wildwing, I'm sure that you wish to know the status of your old friend, Canard, right?"
Wildwing didn't say anything. He just growled at Dragonous through the red eyes of his mask. Dragonous continued.
"Well, my friend. He is very alive. As for now, because I have located Canard in Dimensional Limbo and I have also sent the best Saurian hunters after him, and their orders are to kill him when he comes into view. And to make the hunt a little more enjoyable, I sent with them a video link so that we all can see the end of your comrade."
Dragonous turned on the video screen mounted on the opposite wall. On the screen appeared a vast terrain of strange land and bazarre atmosphere. The screen showed a dozen of the Saurian Empire's best. They were tracking the footprints of Canard. Dragonous turned back to the Ducks, and saw Wildwing with his headdown. He walked over to Wildwing.
"Don't worry, Wildwing." Dragonous said. "You'll get a better view without this infernal mask of yours!"
Draggy then ripped the mask off Wildwing's beak and threw it on the ground. He then walked over to where the mask laid, and lifted his massive, clawed foot.
Wildwing gasped as he saw what Dragonous was about to do.
"Please, no." Wildwing though. "Please God, no."
Dragonous did it. He brought his giant foot down on Wildwing golden mask. The mask shattered as Dragonous crushed it. The Ducks gasped. Especially Wildwing. Wildwing was now furious. He glared at Dragonous with vicious anger and hatred. He didn't care what was about to happen to Canard. He had just witnessed the destruction of the legendary mask of Drake DuCaine. Also, he was just a few feet away from the one who did it, but he couldn't do a thing about it.
Things did look up, though. Grin was watching the monitor and saw Canard, walking toward the video camera suurounded by fallen Saurians. Canard's puck blaster was smoking, then one of his feet was raised, and then the image on the screen went blank. Canard was alive.
"The Saurians have failed." announced Grin.
But still, the Ducks were captured, the mask was destroyed, and all hope was lost.
A buzzer sounded inside the Raptor. Dragonous spun around and glared at Siege and Chameleon staring at the viewing screen.
"Well," he growled. "What is it?"
Siege looked up at Dragonous amazed. "We picked up a reading right outside of the Raptor. Whatever it is, it's trying to get inside!"
Dragonous threw up his claws. "Well, don't just stand there! Take some hunter drones and go take care of it!"
Wraith and Chameleon led a mass of red robots out of the chamber and into the main hallway. They all walked by the shattered reamins of the mask. Wildwing was still overcome by the incident.
"So," said Siege. "What do we do with the Ducks now?"
"Simple," replied Dragonous. "We kill them."
"great! I've been waiting for this for a loong time!"
Right then, there was a huge explosionin the main hallway of the Raptor. Parts and machinery of dozens of drones were flung through the tunnel and back into the holding chamber. Startled by the blast, Dragonous whirled around just in time to see flying debree coming at him. Wildwing could only lift his head to see what was happening. Mallory, Nosedive, and Duke gaped at entrance to the tunnel. What had happened?? Was there some sort of accident? Was someone there to help them? What happened to Wraith and Chameleon?
Blaster fire suddenly interuppted the short silence in the chamber. Then, the Ducks heard a sound that was all too familiar to them. The sound of a puck blaster firing. Tanya and Grin suddenly smiled. Duke, Dive also smiled. Mallory, however, noticed something strange about the sound of the "puck blaster". It was different, and she would know weapons by sound, and she could not identify this weapon heard.
The only ones who weren't smiling, though, were Dragonous and Wildwing.
A cowardly voice was heard from the tunnel.
"Please!! Don't do it!! I beg of you!" It was the Chameleon.
The sound of the weapon was heard again, and Chameleon and Wraith were launched back into the chamber, landing right on Siege. All of them were knocked unconscious.
Dragonous stared into the dark opening of the hallway, trying to make out the figure leaning against the doorway.
"What are you?"
The shadow casually answered back. "Let me give you a hint."
Dragonous gave an expression of curiosity.
"Starts with a 'D'."
With that, the figure stepped out into the light. It was a Duck!
He was a tanned, built Duck with semi-long, brown hair. Around his waist, a belt which held a sling which held a large puck cannon, but this was different from anything Mallory had ever used or even seen! It had two entries into the barrel, which meant that two pucks could be fired at the same time!
I'm here to free my fellow Ducks!" he said. Dragonous stepped between the stranger and the captured Ducks.
"Go ahead," he growled. "Take your best shot."
The new Duck made a leap for Dragonous, but Draggy moved out of the way and made hard contact onto the Duck's back. The stranger grimaced and rolled over out of the way of Dragonous's massive foot, which was about to be pounded on top of him.
The Duck took a shot to Draggy's jaw, but the huge Saurian grabbed his punch from out of the air. He then threw the Duck across the chamber. The other Ducks squinted with the pain that this new heroic Duck was enduring.
"Enough of this!" Dragonous yelled. He turned to his Com and pressed a small green button. "Now it's time to finish you off!"
A green shield appeared around Dragonous, and then he dissappeared. This Duck knew he was in trouble. He drew his puck rifle and fired a few rounds. The speed of his pucks was unbelieveable! And the rate they were all exiting the barreal was astounding! Mallory was impressed with this Duck.
But this short glory came to an end. All of the pucks he fired simply hit the other wall of the holding chamber, making a deep dent in the wall. With no warning, the stranger was flung across the room.
A cackle was heard from the emptiness. Dragonous's footsteps were heard as they advanced toward where the new Duck laid. He then staggered to his feet. Dragonous spoke.
"Now that the mask of Drake DuCaine is destroyed, no Duck can stop me now!"
The Duck opened up his WristCom. A glowing buttonwas all he needed to press. When he pressed the button, a silver light glowed about his beak. The captured Ducks could no longer see the Duck's eyes. They had been covered by something. The silver light died down. All the Ducks gasped in amazement. It was a new mask!
I don't think so, Dino Breath!"
Wildwing's eyes lit up. That was the exact same thing that he said when he first donned the mask of Drake DuCaine.
The new Duck grabbed his puck rifle from its sling and charged it by cocking it. The sound of a very powerful engine hummed inside the rifle. The eyes of the silver mask burned a deep red. "Let's rock!"
He fired ten pucks at the area where the cloaked Dragonous was in only one second! A huge flash almost blinded the Ducks when Dragonous was blown out of his cloak and knocked flat on his back. The Duck then fired pucks at the chains and shackles that held the Ducks to the wall while Dragonous was down. The power of the pucks sliced right through the chains and cuffs. The Ducks were free! Just what the stranger said he'd do.
Dragonous stood up to see that he was now surrounded by Ducks. He mainly concentrated on the new Duck, the one who bore a new mask, a silver mask!
"You see, Dragonous," said the new Duck. "Canard wasn't the only one who had a mask."
The Ducks then loaded their puck blasters and took aim at Dragonous. Dragonous quickly fumbled with his teleporter and soon dissappeared. Siege, Wraith, and the Chameleon were also gone. The Ducks were safe!
Wildwing walked over to where the remains of Drake DuCaine's mask were. He then scooped up the pieces and put them into his pouch. The rest of his team gathered around him.
"I can't believe it." stuttered Wing. "It's gone."
"Don't worry, Wildwing." said Duke. "We have a new mask now."
The Ducks turned around to find nothing of the strange visitor. All that was left was a little note on the floor. Duke walked over to it and drew his DuckSabre. He stabbed the note and passed it over to Wildwing. Wildwing took it and read it.
"See you at the Pond. Your friend, Stivz."
The Ducks heard the squeal of tires. Thinking that the Migrator was being stolen, they ran out of the Raptor.
They turned the corner to find the Migrator right where they left it. Tanya heard an engine coming towards them. They turned to see the new Duck speed off in his own vehicle, a large sport/pick-up truck with oversized tires. All silver. The Ducks gazed at the driver. It was him, all right. He wasn't wearing the mask. They all watched him as he turned the corner, and he was gone.
As the Ducks walked back towards their vehicles, Wildwing stopped suddenly. Mallory was the only one who noticed.
"What's wrong, Wing?"
Wildwing didn't reply. There was a slight smirk on his face, it was the first time Mallory had seen Wildwing without the mask in a long time. It was good to see his face again. Yet there was no emotion in his eyes, as if he was still wearing the mask.
Wildwing then looked down at the piece of paper in his hand.
See you at the Pond.
Your friend,
Stivz
