Mighty Ducks: The Second Line

D.U.C.K.S. : Resurrection

The forms of the three Ducks faded in and out through the white haze of the heavenly fog. Stivz was still standing before the large golden throne that DoubleNine sat in. Kaladan looked on with curious eyes.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" DoubleNine asked Stivz. "Do you really want to go back to Earth? To return to all the pain and struggle fighting Saurians and prejudice?"
"What do I have to lose?" replied Stivz. "Another life?"
DoubleNine scolded him. "Don't be so brave. You're not just dealing with some immortal that looks like something from a bad comic book. In this place, tread lightly, or you will fall into the pits of Hell."
Stivz looked up at his guardian. "What do I really have behind those pearly gates?"
DoubleNine moved his head back a little and listened to the music in the background. "Do you hear that music?"
Stivz nodded. "It sounds like my all my favorite songs rolled into one."
DoubleNine nodded. "Yes, I personally crafted your eternal happiness based on your pleasures. Behind those pearly gates, you can have anything you want. This music you hear can be heard at any time you want."
Stivz thought about the music and DoubleNine's words. Silver continued.
"We can even give you your love back." He said. "Be it Tiffany or Sara, or anyone that you have feelings for, you can see them and interact with them whenever you like."
Stivz lowered his head and remembered Tiffany and Sara. He remembered the heartbreak, and he remembered his emotion for Sara. He squinted trying to get the memories out of his head.
"There is no use fighting memories." Said DoubleNine. "What's done is done."
"No!" Stivz said. "I don't care what is behind those gates! I don't care what I might be throwing away if I don't go through them. Right now, I am thinking about what I'm throwing away if I do go through them, and that's the lives of many noble and courageous Ducks! So, you send me back, now!"
DoubleNine raised an eyebrow in reaction to Stivz's outburst. He and Kaladan were both surprised. Stivz was breathing hard, and his muscles were twitching here and there.
Silver DoubleNine lowered his head and closed his eyes. "Your wish is granted."
DoubleNine extended his hand and pointed to his left. At the end of his finger, a little light darted out from it and vanished into the white haze. A hole began to open up in the fog, and Stivz could see the skyline of Anaheim in the distance.
"There is your destiny, Stivz." Said DoubleNine. "Make it into whatever you want."
Stivz smiled at DoubleNine, and he returned the smile. Stivz ran his hand through his hair, and looked around. He once again put his hand to his neck and pressed. He could feel a faint pulsating sensation. His pulse was returning.
Stivz turned around. "Thank you."
DoubleNine grinned and called to Stivz. "I'll be watching you."
Stivz grinned as well. "I'll see you sometime in the future."
"Indeed you will."
"Wait!" called Kaladan. Stivz turned to her. She walked up to him and gave him a message.
"If you ever need me. Just call for me."
Stivz nodded as he looked down at the gorgeous Duck. He wondered if he would ever see her again.
Stivz turned back around and looked back into the window of Anaheim. He gathered his bearings and took in a deep breath. He looked around him one last time, and sniffed the air. It was a fresh and sweet scent. Stivz then listened one last time to the music playing. It was so nice to hear the powerful blend of guitars and orchestra. It sounded like he was in his very own movie. As Stivz started to walk towards the window, the music grew louder, as if heaven was beckoning him to reconsider. However, Stivz waved off the sound and continued towards the window. He then put one leg in, and finally stepped through.

Dragonous and his three henchmen entered the darker command chamber of Diablo's Talon. Dragonous sat down and Diablo entered. He sat down and activated the viewscreen. The wall flashed the picture of the Pond up, and Donovan walked over to the image. He drew his gray sabre and began to speak in his cold and scratchy voice.
"With the recent loss of their teammate, the Ducks will most likely be mourning for the departed. So, we will take this to our advantage, using this awkward moment to strike upon the Ducks and finish them off once and for all."
Chameleon spoke up. "Well, you have the plot down genius. But, how do we actually plan to attck the Ducks?" Donovan smiled and pointed his sabre at the image of the Pond.
"I've already got it covered. Siege and Uvalde will position themselves at the east and west entrances to the Pond, forcing the Ducks to either come out of the Pond by their service entrances, or the garage doors."
"What else?" asked Diablo, interested.
"If the Ducks will not come out of the Pond within a few minutes of the attack, we send in a group of hunter drones and a package of explosives." Answered Donovan. "If that doesn't flush them out to us, then we will have some Duck soup tonight!"
Diablo laughed. Dragonous couldn't help but chuckle, even if he didn't like his brother or any of his henchmen.
Diablo spun around in his chair and called into the entrance of the command chamber. "What do you think of that, my darling?"
Dragonous's eyes shot open. My darling? What was he talking about? He looked in the direction of the doors and saw a pair of perfect legs appear in the little light.
"That plan is one of the best one's I've heard." Said the female in the door. Dragonous could swear that he heard the voice before. But from where??
"It's almost as good as your plan to escape Dimensional Limbo and come here to Earth." Said the voice again. Draggy stared as the figure came in out of the shadows. It was Lucretia DeCoy! The PuckWorld infiltrator he banished to Dimensional Limbo. Diablo must have brought her back and never told him.
"My brother," said Diablo. "I would like you to meet my lovely associate, Miranda Caiman. I found her in the Limbo, and she didn't know who she was. I took her in and showed her the pleasures of being part of the Saurian Empire."
Dragonous choked. "Miranda, eh?" he said. "Nice name."
Miranda smiled, she couldn't recognize or remember anything that happened between her and Dragonous. Draggy sighed a sigh of relief a little, know ing he was safe for the moment. Diablo was now focusing on the attack in the evening.
"Let us prepare for the annihilation of the Mighty Ducks!" he roared. All the other Saurians cheered, and Miranda did also.
Apparently, she didn't care if she was a Duck or not. She was with Diablo now.

The time was 3:00 in the afternoon, and the Ducks were spread out all about the hangar, looking for any clues of the disappearance of Stivz's body.
"How can anyone just take a body and get him out of here?" asked Duke. He lifted up a loose piece of metal with his DuckSabre.
"Maybe his karma took him away." Said Grin, helping lift a large trash can filled with car parts and oil cans.
"We can't end this until we find out what actually happened." Said Blade.
"Right!" said Sunrise.
Wildwing peeked all around the glass case that was still there. He could not find anything with his mask. Not even scratch marks.
"This whole area over here is clean." He commented. "There is absolutely nothing to find."
Erin was looking through all the Duck SuperVehicles and looked in the back of the Triton.
"Wildwing!" she cried. "I think I found something!"
All the Ducks rushed out from where they were working and came to see what Erin had found. She reached into the bed of the truck and pulled out a hockey stick.
"When we were loading our equipment back into the garage the other day, I only saw the blade of this stick."
"Someone activated his hockey stick!" said Tanya. "Someone was definitely here!"
There was a little commotion between all the Ducks. Nosedive scratched his head.
"So, who could it have been?" he asked. "Whoever it is, they obviously know how to use a hockey stick."
"Are there any fingerprints?" asked Nylessa. Wildwing stepped forward and activated his mask. The red eyes glowed as he scanned the stick for anything. All that the mask indicated that there was a little smear on the blade of the stick.
"The results are inconclusive." He reported. "We have no idea who might have took him."
The Ducks hung their heads for a little bit, thinking about what might have happened.
Chance was still up with the rest of the new Ducks and Fasttrach guarding the silver mask. She was sitting at her post behind the bar in the kitchen, while Coolette and Cooleigh were watching the monitors, searching for any odd signs. Chance looked straight at the mask, spinning in its place. She thought to herself. "If only I knew how it felt to wear it."
She looked over at her side and looked at Fasttrach. He had his head over his folded arms sleeping. Chance eased out of her barstool and slowly walked towards the pillar with the mask hovering above it. As she approached the silver light, she felt a sense of awe and anxiety. She thought she heard a noise, but it was just the air conditioning unit turning on.
She finally made it to Stivz's silver mask. She reached for it and took a hold of the metal with her right hand. Chance felt a surge of energy rush from her hand through her entire body. She could hear music that she had never heard before, and a feeling of both coldness and warmth surrounded her. She let go of the mask, and it continued to hover. The music stopped, and the exciting feelings disappeared. She felt her heart beating faster, and she breathed a little heavily. She squatted down a little to see the eyes of the mask. She tried to stare the mask down, but of course, she blinked first.
"Are you in there Stivz?" she whispered to herself.

Once again, Stivz found himself on all fours just like he was when he woke up after he died. He had his eyes shut tight, and the coughing and heavy breathing started up again. He flashed his eyes open, and he didn't see white. He saw green, and it was grass. Stivz blinked. Was he really back home?
Stivz slowly staggered to his feet and looked around. He was in the Anaheim Park. He saw kids playing frisbee, and another group playing a street hockey pickup game across the street. He again felt at his neck to find a pulse, and there it was again.
He took a long and deep breath, and took in all the smells of the nice greenery. He was indeed alive.
Stivz started to laugh involuntarily. He let himself fall back onto the grass, and he rolled around. He dug his fingers into the soft dirt, and took hold of the Earth under him. He looked up into the sky and saw the Sun. He stared directly into the light, and it did not blind him.
Stivz toned down the laughing and sat up to calm down. He was alive again, and he couldn't wait to go see his friends once again. He could start fulfilling his destiny, as DoubleNine told him. Stivz then took the time to wonder about what happened to him a few minutes ago. He then realized the significance of DoubleNine's name.
"Heh." Stivz chuckled. "Go fig."
Stivz jumped to his feet and started to make his way towards the Pond, where he could find his friends, and his future in his second life.

As the sun got closer to the horizon of the Earth, the temperature got cooler, and the bright orange haze was blinding through the palm trees of Anaheim. Stivz was still on his way back to the Pond, thinking of how he was going to break this new news to his team. Also, who was that female Duck back in that white cloud he was in an hour before.
He continued to walk towards the Pond from the sunlight. He rounded a corner of an office building, and saw the Pond glistening in the sunlight. He saw the palm trees surrounding the parking lot, and the large glass planes on the roof. He smiled and then took a little larger steps as he neared his home.

Inside, the rest of the Ducks were still searching for an explanation for his disappearance. Wildwing had Erin and Tanya search through the surveillance video tapes of the garage. They could not find anything, but there was a strange gap of snow in the tape that lasted a fraction of a second. It led to nothing conclusive.
"Still nothing." Said Erin as she looked up from the monitors. "We can't find anything."
Wildwing frowned. "There must be a way." He said.

In the Second Line headquarters, Chance, Fasttrach, and Cooleigh and Coolette were lounging in the Rec. Room keeping an eye on the mask of Stivz. They all felt strange of the odd happenings that were going on. Where in the world was Stivz's body? This question pierced their minds. It was all just too freaky for some of them.

The large glass doors of the Pond opened up, and a long shadow cast over the sun hitting the floor of the Pond's entrance. The doors closed silently, and the entire arena was too.
Stivz looked around his surroundings, nothing much had changed. He looked up at the huge JumboTron suspended over the ice. He still admired the Mighty Ducks logo. It reminded him of the time he first came to the Pond and joined up with the Ducks. Stivz remembered all the times he had with the Ducks up to this point.
He could remember all the little scuffles between him and Wildwing. He remembered the trip he took with Wing and Mallory up in to the mountains. And, he could also reminisce the time when the Ducks saved him from Dragonous and nursed him back to health.
Stivz smiled as he remembered all these things. He was glad that he was back. He had made a wise decision to return to Earth to help fight against the Saurians. Diablo and Dragonous together would be too much for the Ducks without his know-how.
The tired Duck walked quietly down the halls of the Pond complex towards the Second Line complex. He could hear nothing but his own quiet footsteps, and the faint music he loved so much singing in the back of his mind. Finally, he came to the doors of his team's headquarters. He slowly opened the doors and peered in. It seemed that no one was there. The room was quiet, and everything was in place.
He then took a step into the room and began to move across it. As he made his way through the Rec. Room, he noticed the light shining to the right of him. He turned to it and saw his silver mask floating above a metal pillar. He light shining on the silver and shiny metal of the mask made it seem holy, and it was a shrine to his memory, and to himself.
Stivz walked to the mask and looked at it with joyful eyes. It almost brought a tear to them. He then picked up the silver mask and inspected it over. Everything was intact. Not one single scratch. The smooth silver surface was even polished. Stivz smiled as he held it in front of him.
Suddenly, he heard a click, and then felt something poking him in his back.
"I can pull this trigger at any time." Said Chance. "Put the mask back down, and turn around."
Chance was so filled with emotion, and also so dedicated to her duty to protect the mask, she did not even notice the two large numbers on the back of the jersey that Stivz wore. The 99 was stained with blood, marking where Stivz was hit with a tachyon cannon blast.
As the Duck turned around, Chance gasped and her sunglasses dropped from her beak. Her arm suddenly went limp, and the puck blaster fell to the ground. Chance looked up to see Stivz, donning his silver mask, and clothed in his battle gear. Stivz looked down at Chance and smiled. Chance felt that she was looking up into God's eyes. Stivz's battle gear was practically shining, giving off an angelic vision. Chance felt her legs disappear, and she collapsed to her knees right there in front of Stivz.
She opened her eyes and saw the shiny boots Stivz was now wearing. She was compelled to touch them, to see if this was a hallucenation, or the real thing. She reached for his foot and placed her hand over the shoe. Her hand rested on the boot, and not the ground. She then gasped and looked back up at Stivz.
"It's me." Stivz simply said. "It's good to see you once again, Chance."
Chance then began to cry spontaneously. Stivz bent down and picked her up from the floor and held her for a bit.
"I thought you were dead." Chance managed to say through her sobs of happiness.
"I was." Stivz replied. "But, I am back, and I am home."
Chance backed away from him and took a good look. It was Stivz, all right.
"The others are looking for you." Said Chance. "They're all in the garage."
Stivz nodded and looked in the direction of the doors to the hangar. "I'll just have to introduce myself again." He said.
Just then, a huge explosion rocked the headquarters from outside of the Pond. The Ducks in the garage fell to the ground.
"What just happened?" shouted Duke.
Nosedive flipped open his wristcom and looked at the viewscreen. He could see Saurians teleporting out of thin air in the parking lot of the Pond. "We've got a bunch of reptilian party crashers, that's what!" he replied.
Wildwing got to his feet and began organizing. "All right, team. He have to hold them off." He ordered. "Let's send these jokers home with a few bruises!"
The Ducks all jumped up and morphed into their battle gear. Then, they all hurried out of the doors to meet the Saurians outside.

Stivz jumped to Drake One and started pushing buttons. Chance looked over his shoulder, and then up at the large monitor.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"We have company." Stivz answered. "In the form of Saurians."
"Are the others already fighting?"
Stivz punched in a few more keys. "Yes. They're just meeting them."
"I'll go see to the problem." Chance said confidently.
"Good." Said Stivz. "I'll catch up to you."
Chance hurried out of the headquarters and took two puck launchers with her. As she exited the doors, Stivz then looked around.
"Where could it be?" he said to himself. He walked along the walls and felt along the secret compartments that he knew of.
Finally, he across a tile in the wall, and punched it into the wall. Then, a gun case slowly moved out of the wall, and there was his powerful puck rifle. It too was also polished. He took it from the case and held it in his right hand. He looked over it and then put it in his holster. Stivz finally made his way to the exit.

"Eat hard asphalt, you stinkin' Ducks!" yelled Uvalde as he tore a chunk of cement out of the parking lot surface and hurled it at the group of Ducks that stood in front of them. Siege also joined in on the fun and started to yank a lightpole from out of the ground.
Chameleon and Muerte came forward and held their ground. They saw the Ducks assembling, and readied their tachyon blasters. They were followed by a horde of hunter drones with their arm cannons ready to fire.
"You never leave the ship without it." Said Muerte. He fired at the group, but Wildwing's ice shield deflected the blast.
Wildwing called over to where Blade was.
"Blade! Have the Second Line take care of the robots. We'll take care of these lizards!"
Blade nodded and drew her DuckSabre. It was the first time that she led the team. Why did Wing appoint her as the leader, though.
"Let's go Ducks!!" she called. "Time to trash the stash!"
She started to charge the group of advancing drones. Nylessa then drew her DuckSabre and followed. After her, Street, Warstrike, Phoenix, Fasttrach, Coolette and Cooleigh came in to join the fight. Each of them took out a few drones and cleared the way for the Mighty Ducks to reach the rest of the lizards. The two smaller lizards began firing their blasters. Duke sent a blast from the Chameleon's blaster back at him with his own DuckSabre. Chameleon was knocked back. Muerte looked over at him in shock. As he returned his gaze back over to the Ducks, Mallory and Tanya were right there in front of them. They both gave him a hard shot to the face, which sent him tumbling backwards to the feet of Uvlade.
Uvalde looked at Grin and Nosedive running towards him. He too charged at them. Siege looked on as the three began to throw themselves at each other. Siege squinted as he sensed the oncoming collision.
Grin was knocked back by Uvlade's size, and Nosedive was held by him. Uvalde raised Nosedive to eye level and stared into his eyes.
"Such a brave duck for one so small." He said. Nosedive spat in his face.
"Not to mention a crazy Duck!" Nosedive hooted.
Uvalde wiped the saliva away from his face, and brought back a fist to punch Dive in the head. Suddenly, his fist was stopped as it was flung at Nosedive. Grin was holding it back. Siege then began to rush to Uvalde's aid.
"Not so fast." Erin said as she pulled back on her bow. She lined up her shot and released the arrow from her fingers. The arrow flew through the air and stuck Siege in the upper shoulder armor. The heavy arrow hurtled Siege to another nearby lightpole. The arrow stuck in the metal bar, and Siege was stuck. He could not reach the arrow to pull it out.
Erin laughed as she watched Siege struggle. "Not bad for a little girl, eh? She called. Siege simply yelled.
"I'll get you, you dead Duck!"
Suddenly, flashes of light appeared and more figures appeared from out of thin air. Diablo, Dragonous, Donovan, and Miranda stood where the light once was.
Wildwing looked over at the Duck standing at Diablo's side. "It can't be!" he gasped.
Nosedive immediately recognized her. "It's Vondra McDrake!" he said.
Duke immediately corrected him. "No, Dive. It's Lucretia DeCoy."
Diablo hushed all the Ducks. "Silence you fools!" he roared. "Her name is Miranda, and she is at her rightful place by my side."
"You know, you really are full of it, Diablo." Blade said from a pile of twisted metal of what was left of the drones. "A Duck's rightful place is never beside a Saurian. It should be on the ice or on a pair of skates."
Duke looked over at his little sister with pride. "The L'Orange blood runs deep in the cultural pool." He thought.
"Yeah," said Erin. "You need to think about who you're talking to."
"And that's Ducks!" said Warstrike.
Wildwing looked over at Dragonous. "I guess we just pick up from where we left off, right?"
"Indeed." Said Draggy with a low growl and a wide grin.
Donovan folded his arms and looked as Dragonous walked towards Wildwing, who was already standing in the open, waiting for him.
Blade and Nylessa appeared in the corner of his eye. Donovan turned his head towards them and bared his razor-sharp teeth. "What do you two want?" he growled.
"Just shut up and let's fight." Nylessa warned.
Donovan took off his suit jacket and took out his gray blazing sabre from his belt. "Let's get this over with and quick." He said as he drew the flaming gray blade. He pointed it at the pair of girls.
"Which one of you is first?" he asked.
A voice cracked through his head like a clap of thunder.
"Wait just a second." Duke growled from behind Donovan.
Donovan wheeled around and saw the dark Duck walking towards him. Duke reached for his DuckSabre on his shoulder and revealed the long, shiny gold blade of his hand-crafted sabre.
"I believe we still have some unfinished business to deal with." Duke said.
Donovan grinned. "You will get your turn. After I finish off these two rookies."
"That's where I'm going to have to stop you there." Duke warned. "A wise person always finishes one project before he starts another. So, I insist you fight through me in order to get two those girls."
Blade and Nylessa look at Duke with admiration. Blade saw pride in her big brother's eye, as he went into a fighting stance. Donovan turned around and faced Duke.
"I'll find pleasure of adding your sword to my collection." Donovan sneered.
Duke matched his smile with a grin of his own.
"Y'know, I've been meaning to start my own collection someday."
Donovan lunged at Duke in full fury as Duke deflected his powerful thrust away. The two fought for several minutes afterwards.
Diablo looked on as Dragonous was overpowering Wildwing in a battle. All the other Ducks could just watch, or ward off the rest of the lizards still attacking.
"You see, my dear." Diablo said to Miranda. "I finally have my triumph over the Ducks. And, all this because of a certain someone's death who gave us the advantage."
Erin rose her head to glare at Diablo eyes. Full of hatred, she scowled at the tall monster.
"If Stivz was still alive, you lizards would be stacked up in a pile in the middle of this parking lot."
Diablo grinned. "But, the Duck isn't alive. So, I guess you will just have to grin, and die!"
Diablo raised his arm and pointed his fist at Erin. She saw a red flash appear on Diablo's arm, and she ducked to one side.
Diablo let loose a powerful laser ray. The laser blasted an explosion behind Erin so hard, that Erin flipped end over end. She was all right, though. Only a few cuts and scratches.
"The Saurians have triumped once again!!" Diablo screamed and roared into the Anaheim sky.
A voice suddenly was heard that silenced the entire area of the Pond.
"The Saurians haven't done s**t."
Diablo's face turned into a horrible mess when he heard the voice. He looked around to see where it came from. It was as if the voice came from the heavens above. Resurrection: Part III StivzWorld
